The hellhounds are back in their cages; they came empty handed. Uvall doesn’t like where this is going. I know this is not my fault. But I know I will get the ugly end of his stick. Uvall knocks on the huge double doors gate.
“Enter” a peculiar voice comes from inside.
Uvall opens the doors, and walks into an eerie room. It looks like a lawyer’s office, with mountains of books arranged with library style shelves. What makes it different, are the paintings of demons, tortures, murders, and many weird creatures are hanging on the wall. A massive black executioner sword is hanging over the fireplace. A dark figure is sitting on a throne behind a massive table, quietly in the shadow seems to blend together with the figure.
“What news are you bringing me, Uvall?” The voice is dark and menacing, resembles the growl of a lion ready to pounce its victim.
Uvall swallows hard. “The hellhounds are back. Zuriel and the girl got away.”
“WHAAAATTT ???” The figure springs up from the throne, bangs the table hard, the floor is trembling, dust and pebbles are falling from the ceiling, as if the whole place is crumbling down. For a small, tall, and slender figure, that slam must be instilled with a massive power.
Uvall cringes and he’s sweating. Who is this relatively tiny figure compared to Uvall, that can make the giant warrior whimpers?
“How does it happen??? I thought the hellhounds are supposed to be relentless!!! Have one of them killed as an example. No one can fail me, not even the hellhounds!!!”
Once again, with all his gathered strength, Uvall speaks up “Reports from the hellhound keeper, they chased Zuriel and the girl for quite a while, until they found a church and the hellhounds can’t get through. It seemed like they were running into an invisible wall.”
“They can’t get through? Hm…quite unusual. There must be a holy artifact in that place.” The dark figure is now pacing black and forth in his den.
“No matter. Do you know where they are now?”
“Our men saw them in a place called Sea–Uh- Tel…Then he lost both… They seem to disappear from that place, vanished into thin air…I..“
Before Uvall finishes his sentence, the figure dashes forward, and strikes Uvall with a powerful uppercut. Uvall is sent flying up and forward, hitting the book shelves. Mountains of books fall on him.
“If you don’t have any good news, might as well keep that mouth shut! And look at what you did to my books….”
Uvall slowly gets up, tossing the books to the side. He slowly walks back to his master.
“So the last place you spotted them is Seattle?”
“Yeah.” Uvall is wiping the green blood from the edge of his lips. The punch leaves a dark, knuckle-shaped mark.
The figure is quiet for a while. “This time send the Phantom Wraiths. We will need to get underneath the force field to get through. Oh, and call someone to clean up your mess in here.”
“Right away, sire.”Uvall walks out the room and close the gates.
In the quietness of his room, the figure talks to himself. “Zuriel…I won’t let you ruin my plan. I will get you, dead or alive, if it’s the last thing I do.”

Uvall is infuriated from what he thinks is an undeserved punishment, and he needs to channel this anger. He personally sees to the killing of the hellhound. He grabs one of the foot soldier “Put one hellhound in the dueling cage. I will deal with it later. Fetch the Head of the Phantom Wraith and send him here.” Obviously Uvall has a fairly high rank in the place. He can boss around many of the lower level demons there. Uvall takes off his attire and descend to the cage where the sacrificial hellhound is. He is full of rage and ready to take it on the hellhound. The hellhound is running around restlessly, and it suddenly stops on its track when it catches sight of Uvall. He emits so much negative energy that the creature that knows no fear whimpers like a cornered stray dog
The foot soldier yelled from the top of the cage “The Wraith Leader is here”
“Tell him to wait. This will be over in ten minutes”. Uvall runs charging like bull spotting the red flag of a matador. The hellhound yelps, and starts running to the opposite direction. Unfortunately, Uvall is just way too fast. He is gaining on the hellhound; his massive arms are starting to reach like huge tentacles of a giant octopus. The hellhound runs like mad, jumps on the top of the cage and tries to cling there. Uvall grabs it by the leg. It struggles and kicks in desperation, but suddenly it decides to fight back. It turns its body around and then jumps toward Uvall, straight to his head. Uvall is taken aback, but manage to cover his face that the hellhound only bites his arm. This only makes Uvall’s wrath even worse. He lifts the hellhound and throws it hard to the ground. The hellhound won’t let go of the bite, so Uvall once again lifts it up and smash it to the cage’s wall over and over again. The hellhound finally let go after several hits. Uvall grabs its head and twist it hard. The sound of breaking bones can be heard echoing the cage. The hellhound’s paws still move for a moment, then complete silence. Uvall flings the lifeless body to the foot soldiers. “Roast it in front of its kind.”
Uvall walks up from the cage, and find the Wraith Leader is waiting at the top of the stairs, clothed in long black robe with a hood covering the head. One can only see two glowing red eyes that come from the darkness of the shadows. “What issss your biddingggssss” The Leader sounds like if a snake can speak.
“I want you to track Zuriel and the girl. Last place seen is in Sea–Uh- Tel. Find them and bring them to me.”
“Asssss you wwisshhhh” The Wraith Leader bows, slides back, and disappears. Uvall scoffs “Wraiths…I never like them and I never wish to be their enemies…Zuriel…I can’t wait to crush you with my own hands”
