Chapter 20 – The Hunt for the Red Demons

Alfred stares at the monitors for a couple of seconds. “How did they find us?”
“Perhaps they’re following me, Alfred” Vincent feels guilty.
“Ah yes. Perhaps they’re homing in at your scent and power. They found you once, they will find you again.”
“What now? Can they come in here?” Jenna is worried the sanctuary is compromised.
“I’m afraid this type has special powers that no other demons have. They can penetrate the barrier that we set up. The only holy artifact that can hold them is not here.”
“Where is it?” Jenna has a feeling that she knows the location. “Emeryville, California?”
“Yes. How do you know?” Alfred seems surprised that she is aware of it, but realizes that Jenna has been infused with a lot of knowledge just a moment before.
“That’s where we enter the church that wards off the hellhounds.”
“Ah I see. That’s correct. The basement of that church is another Protector Sanctuary”
“Why don’t you have more of that artifact?” Jenna sounds exasperated.
“Just like all treasures, rare holy artifacts exist. That particular one is used to protect the most important ones.” Alfred pushes a button. It opens up a silver dimensional gate in the middle of the Sanctuary. “Go now. I will hold them off”
“We can’t leave you here!!” Jenna almost cries while holding Alfred’s arm. She can’t lose the only person that links her to Ben. Alfred holds her hand and smiles like a grandfather to his granddaughter. “But you must. Take care of her for me, will you?” Alfred takes Vincent’s hand and Jenna’s and holds them together.
Vincent holds Jenna’s hand and moves toward the gate “We must go now. “
“No..” Jenna’s tears fall to her cheeks. She tries to hold on to Alfred’s arm tighter, but Alfred moves away “Good bye, my child. I hope we will meet again.”
They go through the gate. It’s like walking inside a tunnel of light. When they arrive at the other end, they arrive at another place in the woods. When they look back, the gate disappears right before their eyes. Jenna stares at the spot where the gate vanishes, clasps her hand to her mouth, and weeps. Vincent holds her in his arms, doing his best to calm her down.
“Let’s make sure that his sacrifice is not in vain.”
Suddenly Jenna stops crying, wipes her tears. Her eyes are now full of determination. “Yeah. If anything happen to him, I will make sure that they will suffer the consequences to the maximum pain. Now let’s kick some demon butt!”

Vincent takes out the Devil’s map from his satchel after the third try. Obviously it still needs some getting used to.  He lays out the map. “First destination..who’s the unlucky demon we’re hunting ?”
“Let’s start with Shalbiri. He is the weakest among them, but very cunning.” Jenna is now well equipped with demon information. “Before we go, let’s suit up. First, use the Heaven Armor rings.” They each take a ring, and magically their body is covered in silver colored chainmail that resembles the armor of medieval warriors.
Vincent observes the material, and then jumps up and down several times. “This is really light…Amazing...”
“You will find that it’s ‘more than meet the eye’. It can adapt to your weapon of choice and make place for them”

“Really?” Vincent grabs the Blade of the Holy Might and the Shield of Mikhail. Automatically the armor creates holster for the sword and a holder for the shield at his back. “Wow…”
Jenna grabs the Elysium Bow and wears the Amulet of the Morning Tears. Again, the armor makes holder for the bow and alters the shape of the armor to make room for the amulet. She puts the Eye of Gabriel in her armor pocket. Jenna never feels this powerful in her whole life. “Ready?”
“Yeah.  Let’s bring some pain.” Vincent’s armor shines in the sun; truly a holy knight ready for battle. “Where is he?”
“Beijing. Let’s use the Gate of Void.” Jenna picks up the Gate of the Void from the satchel, presses some button, and the box opens up a teleportation gate. She opens up the Devil’s Map right in front of it and pinpoints Shalbiri location. From the back of the map, a red laser-pointer like ray lights up and goes through the gate. “Shall we?” She folds the map back, and marches with Vincent through the silver vortex tunnel, and arrives at Forbidden City.

The local people look at them funny as they are wearing armors and carrying weapons. One tourist even ask them “Are you guys lost?” Jenna just smiles and keeps walking. She looks around, trying to find Shalbiri. “Do you see him?”
Vincent slaps his forehead “Wait a minute. I just realize something. Do we even know what he looks like?”
“I do…but you don’t….Hm…let me check the Book of Angels.” Jenna takes the book from the satchel. “Show me Shalbriri.”
She opens the book, and finds the chapter on Shalbiri, complete with his picture. She holds the book to Vincent “This is what he looks like. Wait…you can’t see the book anyway. I’ll point you out to him.”
“I can’t believe the map doesn’t lead us directly to him.”
“I think he is hiding. Hand me the Angelus-Diablo compass.” She takes it from Vincent and flips it open. A blue glow points to where Vincent is and there’s a faint red glow pointing north. “He’s close.” It points to a group of local people walking there. The glow is getting brighter and brighter, but both Vincent and Jenna still can’t spot Shalbiri. “If this compass is right, then he is among a bunch of Chinese people sitting over there.”
“Isn’t he going to be easy to spot, being a non-Chinese demon?” Vincent laughs at his own joke, however Jenna doesn’t’ find it amusing. “Let’s try the Eye of Gabriel”
“But I thought that’s for the darkness shroud?”
“I have a feeling that I’m right.” Jenna walks closer to the group, and casually places the Eye of Gabriel and look through the hole. One guy from the group is startled, and getting ready to run. Jenna walks back to Vincent, pretending to hug him, and whispers to his ear “Bingo.”
