Chapter 13 – Finding Cohen

The chaplain is really confused when the couple enters the church.
“We need to stay just the night. Is that okay?” Jenna is putting her big eyes face like Puss in Boot in Shrek.
“You are not allowed to sleep together in one room” The chaplain is clearly not happy with the arrangement.
“We will sleep on the pews if you don’t mind.”
“Ok” answers the chaplain reluctantly.
“Is there a study that we can use?”
“Yes. It’s on the corner behind the curtain. Please don’t do anything funny. Last week we had 2 visitors using the confessional booth for you know what”
“Yes. We won’t. Thanks” Jenna can’t stand to force a smile.

They go to a study room behind the curtain, and Jenna takes the phone out. “Okay…Let’s find Mr. Cohen”
She does a Google search, and finds several Alfred Cohens. “Let’s see if we can narrow it down.” She types Alfred Cohen, Benjamin Rabinowitz. A couple of webpage show up, and one shows a picture of both of them in a conference. “Bingo!”

She’s a little teary eyed watching Ben. Vincent notices this, but he doesn’t have the courage to tell her yet. She wipes her tears. “Here we go. Alfred Bernard Cohen, lives in downtown Seattle. Here’s a number. (206)448-8762”
“Alfred Bernard Cohen? ABC?” Vincent raises one his eyebrows.
“I know, right"
“So let’s call him.”

Jenna calls his phone number. “Hello.”
“Hi. Is this Alfred Cohen?”
“Speaking”
“Are you friends with the late Benjamin Rabinowitz?”
“Yes. He’s a very good friend of mine. Who is this?”
“This is Jenna Dayton. I am also a very close friend of his.”
“Ah Jenna… yes… I heard a lot about you. I’m so sorry for what happen to him.”
“Me too…”
“So…what can I do you for?”
“I’m in trouble; BIG trouble. I found Zuriel, or more like he found me”

There’s a long pause at the other line. “You found Zuriel?”
“Yes. He’s right here with me. It appears that he lost his memory, although he regains some of it already.”
“I see. Come to my place…wait…It’s not safe here…meet me at Space Needle. Then we’ll go from there. Call me as soon as you arrive.”
“Okay. There’s just one teeny tiny problem. The enemy has set hellhounds to come after us.”
“Hellhounds…” Alfred lets out a long sigh. “From what I know, hellhounds are intense hunter. They will not let you go until you are torn to unrecognizable pieces.”
Jenna feels the hair on her neck rising. “Is there any way we can ward them off?”
“Why don’t you check the book of angels? There might be some information there.”
Jenna slaps her forehead. “Good idea”
“One of the things I know about Book of Angels, it adapts.”
“It adapts?”
“Yes. It adjusts to the reader’s level of intelligence. You can think of the topic that you want to know. It’s an evolving book…it will give you enough information for now and adds more information as you know more.”
“Whoa…..” Jenna is trying to make sense of Alfred just said.
“Okay then...Call me as soon as you are here. And Jenna, I’m glad you’re okay”
“Thanks sir. I’m glad to find you too. Bye.”

“We found him. Now we gotta find if there’s any kind of information in the book of angels to get rid of these puppies from hell”

Jenna opens up the Book of Angels, and finds information about hellhound faster as she understands the way it works now.

Hellhounds
Dogs, if you can call them that, from hell. Very ferocious, very powerful, usually runs in a pack of ten to twelve.
The leader is called a foxhound, as per its similarity to fox on earth. There is almost no way to outrun these brutal hunters. There is, however, some ways to avoid them. Hellhounds can’t get into churches, as the buildings are protected by the angels. Travel during the day, as hellhounds can’t stand direct sunlight. But they can still follow you as long as there are shadows. Hellhounds can be neutralized by extreme cold and can be killed by holy artifacts. One holy artifact that is the most effective against hellhounds is the Blade of Holy Might. Unfortunately, most of the holy artifacts are lost in the battle in Megiddo.

Jenna closes the book. “At least now we know that we can avoid them. But we have to travel only by day.”
Vincent nods. “Okay then. Let’s get some sleep now. Tomorrow we’ll leave from here as soon as the sun rises”

They’re heading to the sanctuary. “Which side of the pew you’d like, Jen?”
“Does it matter?”
“I’ll take the altar. There’s some carpeting there. Good night Jenna. Try to get some sleep.”
“Good night…” Jenna looks at him as he tries to sleep on the altar. She smiles to herself, and closes her eyes.
